Life's been good:) the routine of studying is now back! So I study, then gym, then eat, then sleep. And repeat. I'm still trying to gain weight so now I eat like chunks of food but actually I should spread them out over 6 meals a day. It's difficult to find so much free time to eat so I've only been able to do 4 meals a day recently. My weight is roughly 53kg now. It varies up and down by about 1kg. But anyway, thats about 13kg gain from last year. Yay!
So gym stuff again: I did bench presses till the bar touched my chest last week, supposedly the full range of motion, NOT SMART. The next day my joints were sore and after a check online I diagnosed it to be some rotator cuff problem. So I learnt that proper form is 90 degrees the hard way. Actually I've been doing 90 degrees form all the time until last week when people started saying I wasn't going low enough. At that point I felt I wasn't making gains so I decided to try. People with short limbs can touch the bar on their chest and have a 90 degree angle at their elbows, but ectomorphs like me with longer limbs (proportionally speaking) will have a very sharp angle when the bar touches the chest. Furthermore, this causes the shoulder to be forced backwards in order to accommodate the larger range of motion. In other words, the stress is being placed on the joint at the bottom of the exercise, not on the muscles. So it's BAD! I was doing 80kg x 8 at the "90 degrees" form, and people were saying I wasn't going low enough. I admit I probably didn't go 90 degrees when I was doing the 80kg. That was just last week. So for my next session, I'll be doing 70kg x 8 or 10 just to make sure I get the form right first. Form over weight, remember. I was surprised that with the full range of motion, even 60kg was able to make my joint sore for at least 3 days and up till now, which is 8 days later, I'm still trying to let it fully recover. It's not sore anymore but I'd like to leave more time for it just in case :)
As for school work, my organic chemistry is still horrible. Actually I don't really know the problem. Its probably everything. Like I have memorized all the reactions and stuff so now I know what's going on better, but when it comes to the tests, it's still terribly difficult especially when they give weird molecules which I've never seen before. Probably conceptual then :( big problem.
But anyway, thankfully my other subjects are fine. I got A for math and physics for term exams, but E for Econs and U for Chem. I got put into the supplementary remedial programme for chem, which I feel is a good thing since it'll help! And my math was a huge improvement by the way, since I failed my math the whole of last year until promos when I got D. For terms I got A, which is a marked improvement. Maybe that was a fluke. So last week we had another test on complex numbers, which I got A again! So, NOT a fluke :) but I'm still quite disappointed with the marks actually. Like my class isn't supposed to be that smart based on O level's but we're probably 3rd overall in school. Then the crazy scholars and all got 23/25 including some Singaporeans, while I only got 18 :( like most people in class got higher than me. Though when I look at others from other classes, it's not that bad! :)
