This was yesterday morning's route as part of Team Recycling-SP's Tour de Bintan training. The total distance calculated at first was about 110km, so we targeted to arrive in 3 hours 40 minutes ride time. We left SP at 5.45am, and the target was to arrive by 9.45am, traffic lights and unforeseen circumstances included. Happily, at the 9.45am mark, the cyclocomputer read 111.78km done, despite us not reaching the destination. Ride time was 3:38hours. I later found out that the actual distance on googlemaps was 114km, so that explains why we didn't reach the destination even though the cyclocomputer read that 111km was already done. Regardless, we met the target! To ride 110km in 3 hours 40 mins ride time, and 4 hours overall time, including one quick refuelling stop. Our riding average speed was 31.1km, and that's quite satisfactory for such a long ride by our standards. With 6 weeks left to go till the race day, it seems like we'll be able to make it right on time after all. So well done to Julian, Weiwen and Chenyee!
My legs after the ride, well worth it!
After the ride we went to Pek Kio for some real food breakfast and then to Papa Palheta for coffee. I tried the Sumatran variety beans. It's supposed to have a spicy bodily flavour and I'm quite impressed by theirs honestly. I am rarely able to drink coffee totally without sugar (though recently I've been trying to get used to it), but the cup of brewed coffee served was really drinkable without any sweetening. It gives a nice aftertaste too, so I really appreciate it!
